Whether you’re on the road, rushing to catch a plane or sitting on the beach, it’s easy to take a vacation from our healthy eating habits. Finding a local grocery store can be challenging, and the only place to find provisions are service stations, fast-food restaurants, hotel vending machines or the mini-bar.

It helps to plan ahead and pack along these options from Schnucks to satisfy hunger and cravings. Make room in your suitcase or in the car for these travel-friendly, substantial and wholesome snacks:

  • Dried fruit: Think beyond raisins with Goji berries, dates, blueberries, figs and mangoes.
  • Pretzels, popcorn and whole-grain crackers are healthier than chips, and they're less fragile.
  • Bring along a jar of peanut butter for the car to dip with snacks.
  • Nutrition bars will tide you over to your next meal, but choose those lower in fat and calories with a good amount of fiber and protein.
  • Nuts and sunflower seeds provide protein and healthy fats, plus, the great variety available from almonds to walnuts relieves snacking boredom.
